So, Monster Hunter Wilds' DLC has been annoucned and that, combined with my love for Monster Hunter related videos (shoutout Flyann and Oceaniz), got me back into Wilds. I haven't played this game since launch cause I was burn out after the main story + the lack of content at launch, so it's been interesting going back and getting deep into the game. I'm currently a paltry HR 70 but I'm currently working at getting to HR 100 so I can fight the Big Gog.
The game itself is very beautiful and I found myself taking a lot of screenshots while I was playing. This is just some of them, along with some occasional little comments.
I completely forgot that the Windsong Village existed since I don't hang out around Windward Plains a lot. That's not to say that they're bad or anything, rather that the game has a tendency to make things look washed out. I think this is one of the reasons I fell off the game as well, everything was so grey that I had a hard time distinguishing certain features in the environment. Other than that, the Village is nice. I'm pretty sure I came here just to change my Seikret's color.
I like visiting Rove here, their space is very cozy compared to the harsh icescape outside (didn't capture it here tho haha). Erik wears a big scarf here which is cute, even if he's super underdressed compared to the rest of the cast.
Wyveria feels super eerie, at least where the Keepers live, which makes sense lore-wise considering everything that happens in the story. Makes it feel empty, not in a bad way but not really in a good way either? I just feel a bit sad whenever I enter the place, it has a sense of melancholy oozing out of it.
This one is funny because I never realized there was a Palico that appears after you take a picture. I remember being extremely confused why there was another Palico with us and then immediately getting it when it showed me the painting :D
Unfortunately, it looks like I can't share any videos on here...but these pictures should do in the mean time!
Erik isn't a huge, central figure within the story but Capcom made the awesome decision of letting him be your handler later on in the game. Lemme say, I love Erik. He's got a neat character design (I love the puffy coat), he's really sweet, and, most importantly, he'll call out rare species if you're both close enough to one. I think that's a nice all-in-one-package, if I do say so myself!
He's also just an interesting guy. Monster Hunter isn't the type of game series to reveal characters' backstories but I do want to know more about what he was doing before the events of the game; though, sometimes its more fun if these sorts of things are left unexplained.
Thanks for stopping by!
